Newsletter - May 2003

Join with us this month as we continue to celebrate 30 years!

Dear Students, Parents,and Friends:

We thank our Amador families and students that made the trip to Santa Clarita, California to attend the AJJF, Region 2 Kata Tournament this past weekend. We congratulate all our participants for a great performance!

Our 30th Anniversary celebration is rapidly approaching, it will be held May 31st, 2003 at the Veterans Hall in Livermore, from 5pm to 10pm. We have a full evening planned of dinner, special demonstrations by students, recognitions and dancing. We hope you know how important it is to us that you join us on our special night.

We will be hosting the Prof. Ray L. Law National Jujitsu Championships on June 7th and 8th, 2003. The event will include clinics and freestyle competition on Saturday and Jujitsu Kata on Sunday. All Kata participants that are currently signed up will be assigned a Kata Coach, with practices beginning this week. If you are not signed up for the tournament but would like to participate please let us know.

Also, on June 7th in the morning we will be participating in the Livermore Rodeo Parade. We are celebrating 30 years and would like all of our students to join instructor Ryan Rebmann and participate in the parade.

Summer will soon be here. We have scheduled a series of Summer Camps for students ages 6 and up. Day camp dates are June 16th-20th, June 23rd-June 27th and August 18th-22nd, with a special weekly theme for each camp. If you would like more information, please ask. Camp registration packets will be available shortly.

It is a day at the Fair! We are scheduled to demonstrate at the Alameda County Fair on June 24th, 2003 from 5:00 to 5:45 pm. If you would like to be part of our fair demonstration, please note the sign up sheet on the bulletin board.

August 29th-September 1, 2003, Foster City, California, hosted by Prof. Willy Cahill, Jujitsu America is Ohana 2003. Ohana is the Hawaiian word for “family” and it is also the name of the gathering of the Kodenkan Danzan Ryu Jujitsu organizations.

The Ohana celebration, which occurs every 2 years, has been a time of sharing between members of the various Kodenkan Danzan Ryu organizations since its inception in 1990. We are fortunate this year to have it in the Bay Area. We will be participating in the clinics portion of Ohana on Saturday, the Prof. Ozakaki National Kata Championships on Sunday and the awards/banquet dinner on Sunday night. We believe it is a good opportunity to meet with other practitioners of Jujitsu, and be fortunate enough to train under some of the most renowned Martial Artists in the World. We encourage all our students to attend. We will have registration forms available shortly for those interested in attending.
